Kaidan QuickPan Pro
The Quickpan Pro is a completely new design that addresses the requirement for unparalleled adjustability and extreme levels of accuracy and precision. Kaidan have developed a completely new indexing mechanism, named WedgeLock™, that eschews conventional spring plunger designs. Spring plungers, even those used on other "precision" tripod heads, require certain levels of clearance in order to work. With careful design and expensive machining, it is possible to minimize this clearance and attain acceptable levels of rigidity.
Using our knowledge gained in over twelve years of selling panoramic tripod heads, Kaidan have created a rigid wedge-locking mechanism that indexes in both azimuth and elvation. The result is the new QuickPan Professional offering a new level of precision and performance that no other panoramic tripod head can match, at any price. Depending on the weight of your camera, your tripod and the ground surface you can expect sub-degree level of accuracy.
Camera Mounting
In additional to rethinking precision and accuracy, we've taken an entirely new approach to mounting the camera to the tripod head. Kaidan has long offered a quick release option for many of our tripod heads. A quick release provides an easy way to securely and accurately mount the camera onto the tripod head so that it can be attached and removed easily, while maintaining registration. Of course, the downside to the quick release is that very often you need to purchase an expensive camera specific plate. In these days of rapidly changing camera technologies, it soon becomes clear that the professional will need to own many camera specific plates.
Kaidan have managed to incorporate all the benefits of a quick release plate directly on a swing arm of the tripod head. Each QuickPan Pro comes with adjustable sliding PlaceHolders™ that slide and securely lock along the length of the swing arm, conforming to your camera's unique base profile. Once you've mounted and adjusted your camera, the PlaceHolders maintain the location of the camera at all times. You can remove and reattach your camera at will, always being sure that it will be in the same exact position every time.
There are also PlaceHolders on the horizontal beam structure of the head. These are used to maintain the exact location of the vertical elevation assembly in the exact, calibrated position every time. You can quickly and easily disassemble the QuickPan Pro for transport and reassemble with full confidence that everything will be in the exact calibrated position.
Of course, if you own an Arca-style quick release camera bracket and wish to use it, you'll be pleased to know that the QuickPan Pro can be outfitted with an optional Arca-Swiss mount. In this case, the PlaceHolders will precisely locate the optional mount along the swing arm. You'll be able to remove and reattach the mount and switch cameras in seconds.
